Position Summary

Provides administrative leadership and direction to Centura Health Physician Group practices within the Durango/southwestern Colorado market. Reporting directly/indirectly to the CHPG COO and the MRMC (Mercy Regional Medical Center) CEO provides leadership in strategic and operational decision making. Acts as liaison for Medical Leadership. Responsible for practice operations and employed physician relations. Facilitates development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of services within the Durango CHPG market through collaboration with organization’s leaders, clinical/medical practice directors and other management. Works closely with the COO and other members of CHPG and MRMC Senior Leadership Team to accomplish the goals and objectives within the strategic plan for physician practices and physician services to achieve CHPG’s market goals and objectives. Works with physician leaders to develop and implement operating strategies to meet the needs of the patient population. Responsible for operational management of primary care and specialty physician practices. Responsible for clinic fiscal performance including expense control and revenue generation. Assure adherence to policies, procedures and compliance with standards set forth by state, federal and hospital regulatory agencies. Possess knowledge of Information Systems - EMR, and knowledge of Finance, Physician Reimbursement, Accounting, Budgets, and Insurance. Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementation of strategies necessary to organize and grow services integrated with CHPG clinics in the southwestern Colorado market.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or related field

Master’s Degree strongly preferred

Candidates without a Master’s Degree must possess 7 years of related experience

Minimum Experience Requirements

5 years of executive management in clinical and/or health system operations leadership.

Administrative management in a physician practice environment is preferred. Strong knowledge/application of systems framework, excellent strategic thinking skills, demonstrated resource management, and stewardship skills, strong team orientation, good understanding of total quality management concepts, strong customer focus, demonstrated ability to lead/implement change activities, demonstrated skills in influencing through relationships, excellent analytical thinking skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )

Leadership - 60%

Directs clinic operations. Is accountable for the operational performance of all practices in southwestern Colorado/Durango market.*

Oversees a team of administrators and Assistant Administrators to carry out the goals and objectives of CHPG, MRMC, and Centura Health.*

Fosters the development of these individuals into effective leaders within the organization.*

Ensures direct reports understand the Centura mission, vision, values, and behaviors by role modeling. Keeps management team informed about corporate news in an effective and timely manner.*

Creates an environment where CHPG management team are involved in decision making and changes that affect the work they do.*

Involves management team in creating clinic-wide and department goals in support of CHPG’s and Centura Health’s strategies; clearly communicates department goals, expectations, responsibilities and accountabilities. *

Addresses low performers in timely manner. *

Assist the employee in creating an action plan for improvement.*

Follows up with the employee on regular bases until performance improves.*

Coaches individuals and teams to strengthen their performance; takes responsibility for identifying individual employee development needs and finding ways to address them.*

STANDARDIZATION/IMPROVEMENT - 20%

Drives standardization and integration of clinic operations, including site consolidation and the establishment of common key performance indicators across sites.*

Partners with Medical Leadership to improve the operations of the assigned CHPG clinics, including strategic planning, patient satisfaction, physician relations, quality assurance, and other operational improvements.*

Collaboratively works with direct reports to set meaningful performance objectives; sets specific performance goals and identifies measures for evaluating goal achievement.*

Demonstrates commitment to innovation and continuous performance and process improvement.*

Helps other recognize when their current way of working is no longer effective in the changing healthcare climate.*

Consistent with CHPG priorities, plans and implements initiatives which support growth and a competitive advantage for assigned clinics.*

COMMUNICATION/PARTNERSHIP - 20%

Frequently communicates with and provides report outs to the

CHPG Board of Directors and MRMC Senior Executives on various aspects of Clinic operations. *

In collaboration with CHPG, Centura Health, and MRMC executives, establishes business development models to assure CHPG viable growth and volumes.*

Gains strong support from system leaders to manage practice operations, including financial performance, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, physician relations, and quality care.*

Holds management team accountable for meeting established metrics and movement toward better performing status according to national benchmarks.*
