Responsible for all responsibilities relating to the 340B program in conjunction with the 340B Manager. Will have oversight and audit responsibility for 340B compliance across the pharmacy enterprise. Responsible for daily and monthly pricing audits, auditing of procurement strategies, and projects as determined by the 340B Manager. Assist the Manager in establishing specifications for the procurement of pharmaceuticals. Researches best possible source of procurement with the goal of achieving maximum contract compliance. Ensures compliance to the contracts and correct processes are followed throughout the system.
_Minimum Education Requirements_
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
_Minimum Experience Requirements_
3 years of directly related experience
1 year hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician preferred
Strong analytical skills. Proficiency in common office productivity software and operating
systems such as: Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Knowledge of medical terminology and drug nomenclature Experience with program planning, development and management.
Strong work ethic to provide comprehensive reports and consistently set and meet appropriate deadlines.
Must be willing and able to take current auditing process and automate (as much as possible) and create a new process to meet the needs of the hospital(s) for both contract pharmacy and hospital purchase audits
General understanding of 340B program rules and regulations
Strong problem solving skills and resolution follow through with vendors and Centura buyers
Collaborate with pharmacy buyer(s), IT, and vendors to investigate discrepancies found in audits
Potential to travel onsite to hospitals
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
_Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )_
Monitor and audit state Medicaid claims to ensure compliance to prevent potential duplicate discount rebates.
Evaluate patient eligibility for qualified and non-qualified patients in mixed-use areas and clinics by reviewing patient medical records, insurance plans, and hospital status.
Using Excel or a comparable data management program, filter out non-eligible transactions, including, but not limited to, drugs used to treat patients during inpatient care, Medicaid patients,
drugs provided free by manufacturers, those provided at non-eligible locations, or prescriptions written by non-eligible providers.
Perform audits on a scheduled basis; may involve presenting and resolving reconciliation issues as they arise during the monitoring and reconciliation process. Perform audits of contract pharmacies. Be involved in any and all 340B audits. Perform self-audits of 340B pharmacy operations.
Ensure compliance with 340B program requirements for qualified patients, drugs, and locations.
Through financial analysis, strive to recognize the value opportunity of the 340B program.
Assess opportunities for cost savings and system improvements to yield higher compliance.
Develop a thorough understanding of the 340B program. Strive to consistently improve the overall efficiency, value, and internal support of the 340B program.
Evaluate and assist in implementing cost savings opportunities.
Assist all customers to clarify requirements, propose sourcing options; evaluate and recommend the best sourcing solution.
Develop reports that can be used to educate staff and assist management in tracking the overall financial impact to the organization. Build other reports, as appropriate, to monitor and improve 340B program compliance and performance.
Maintain copies of reports for compliance and audit purposes.
Monitor, report, and analyze contract pharmacy 340B activities; provide financial reports to hospitals or other covered entities relative to financial impact and liabilities; make
recommendations that would improve efficiency.
Perform hospital- or other covered entity-specific gross financial analysis and partner with 340B Manager to create recommendations to improve program performance. Track financial impact over time, identify root causes of adverse trends, and make recommendations to improve the program’s financial stability.
Partner with Coordinators to review and refine monthly 340B cost savings reports detailing purchasing and replacement practices, as well as dispensing patterns to assist as needed.
Develop a thorough understanding of the split-billing system and the functions to be performed.
Educate others involved in the purchasing process to ensure proper operation and compliance.
