_Position Summary_

The role of this position is to assist the VP of SCM and VP of Pharmacy in the development, implementation, management, evaluation, and promotion of system-wide oversight of pharmaceutical sourcing and supply chain management. Responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective use of pharmaceuticals across the system and to develop and maintain a sustainable procurement and distribution process at all sites. Direct oversight of pharmacy sourcing team and maintaining a continuous quality improvement program for pharmacy processes and an ongoing strategic vision for the program.

  • Participates in the development and execution of the pharmacy sourcing strategic and operational plan.

  • Assist in leadership and direction of all pharmaceutical care sourcing and operational processes.

  • Develops systems of care, solves problems and facilitates processes required to meet customer need and achieve division objectives within budgetary targets.

  • Additional responsibilities include performance management of assigned staff, quality measurement and process improvement, practice standards within area of responsibility and regulatory compliance

_Minimum Education Requirements_

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy required

  • MBA from accredited university preferred

_Minimum Experience Requirements_

  • 1 year management experience required

  • Extensive knowledge of value analysis, contract development, group purchasing, vendor negotiations and supply chain processes.

  • Detailed knowledge of the pharmaceutical supply industry or procurement/supply chain in general, with preference for a deep understanding of total supply cost principles of pharmaceutical supplies at wholesale and retail levels.

  • Strong analytical and program development skills, including total cost analysis and project planning and implementation, to include all programs in MS office.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship and team building skills including written and verbal communications, small and large group presentations and group facilitation.

  • Work experience involving process improvement Pharmacy experience required


  • Licensed pharmacist in state of CO or ability to obtain license in state of CO Six Sigma preferred

_Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )_

  • Assists and guides site leadership in the day-to-day pharmacy operations in the provision of pharmaceutical care.*

  • Develops and implements division goals and objectives on an annual basis consistent with departmental and organizational strategic and operating plans.*

  • Manage the relationship between Centura Health and distributors. Primary interface for pharmaceutical category to the GPO.*

  • Work in direct collaboration with pharmacy leaders and supply chain to shape and deliver pharmaceutical standardization and utilization strategy.*

  • Performance management, hiring and training of assigned staff.*

  • Oversee supplier relationships, direct contract negotiations and ensure all sites have a consistent process for procurement, oversight, and maintenance of pharmaceutical contracts and vendor relationships. Develop resources for shortage management; optimize pharmaceutical inventories, and implementing key programs.*

  • Establish measurement and analytical tools as single source of truth for strategic sourcing and value analysis activities, and collect and report information on the financial and service performance for a product area.*

  • Quality measurement, process improvement, and maintaining practice standards within area of expertise and regulatory compliance.*

  • Assist the VP Pharmacy in the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, services, and programs related to a safe and cost- effective medication use process.*

  • Collaborate with VP of SCM to develop best in class category strategies in support of inpatient, retail and specialty pharmacy operations.*

  • In conjunction with the site/System pharmacy leadership, along with stakeholders and staff, assists in the development of short and long term goals and objectives for the sites.*

  • Develops and maintains an effective system of communications with the stakeholders including other departments.*

  • Provides support to the Corporate Clinical Pharmacy Manager on Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, and other committee’s activities and initiatives as assigned.*
