_Position Summary_

The Accounting Supervisor has individual duties, but primarily oversees the workflow of a team of senior and staff accountants. Position is responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness of twenty-five bank reconciliations, daily reporting of treasury and credit card transactions, month end journal entries, and working closely with the Cash Control team to identify and resolve posting variances, and providing data for quarterly EY financial audits. The Supervisor is responsible for mentoring and training their staff, ensuring that daily and monthly deadlines for reporting and reconciliations are met, and cultivating communication and a strong working-relationship with cash control as well as the facility finance teams and the Business Analytics team. The Supervisor is involved in making decisions regarding workflow, scheduling, and process changes that impact the Revenue Management Accounting Team. This position assists with the development of policies and procedures surrounding bank reconciliations, journal entry preparation and reporting and monitors for compliance. Responsibilities also include assisting with research and resolving various issues that arise with processes and reporting, credit card processing and administration, and a variety of other sources. The Supervisor is responsible for cultivating strong relationships with peers, leaders, revenue management departments, facilities, and business partners to achieve accurate financial reporting.

_Minimum Education Requirements_

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

_Minimum Experience Requirements_

  • 5 years of experience in accounting or related field; preferably with a health care system.

  • Supervisory experience is required.

  • Must be proficient in the use of accounting software and spreadsheet applications, preferably Excel.

  • Prefer experience with Lawson software, auditing, and financial reporting.

_Position Duties (Essential Job Functions, Include % of time)_

Leadership – 50%

  • Supervises the daily activities of the staff under his/her supervision by means of effective communication, training, guidance, direction and associate evaluations.

  • Assures that staff accomplishes all assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

  • In conjunction with Assistant Controller, performs the personnel functions of interviewing, hiring of new staff, performance appraisals (or 1.1’s), quarterly staff meetings or as necessary, disciplinary actions and other necessary related duties for the purpose of developing and maintaining an efficient staff.

Operations – 50%

  • Responsible for the oversight of the administration and reconciliation of Centura’s patient bank accounts and credit card system.

  • Duties include, but are not limited to the oversight of: bank reconciliation, researching posting variances, setting up merchant id locations, ordering banking supplies for hospitals/clinics, maintaining policy and procedures, working with cash control and Business Analytics team to improve bank reconciliation process.

  • Serves as resident technical resource to all areas of accountability.

  • Keeps Manager informed of activities and decisions made within service area.

  • Provides operational management of the department including understanding, monitoring and improving work-flow and processes within the area, monitoring staff schedules in Kronos, assisting on day to day problem resolution and troubleshooting.

  • Participates in decision making concerning policies, procedures, and equipment.

  • Assists in writing and implementation of new policies and procedures in accordance with PCI Compliance (credit card data security compliance).

  • Participates in quality improvement projects.

  • Partners with other revenue management areas and facilities to achieve resolution.

  • Stays current on departmental and vendor/software changes in order to provide the most current information to Centura’s staff and departments.

  • Researches and resolves issues to meet customer needs.

  • Uses problem-solving ability for various levels of issues.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in managing time and resources , while maintaining a professional attitude.

  • Oversees research requests.

  • Escalates issues to the appropriate parties and ensures complaints and issues are handled in a timely and professional manner.
