_Position Summary_

Responsible for the operational management and continued stability, reliability and standardization of the Microsoft desktop environment consisting of 20,000+ workstations and 50,000+ user accounts. Responsible for workstation administration, software package development and deployment using available tools. Administers Active Directory , Group Policy, infrastructure and management applications. Provides 3rd tier escalation support for the service desk, field support technicians, and application analysts. Works with application support teams and business customers to ensure expeditious delivery of assigned tasks and projects. Monitors, tunes and diagnoses workstation images and resolves operating system problems. Develops and implements system administration automation.

_Minimum Education Requirements_

  • BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience

_Minimum Experience Requirements_

  • 5 years progressively responsible experience in IT infrastructure or support.

  • 2 years in a Desktop Administration capacity.

  • 1 years experience managing Microsoft Active Directory & Group Policy.

  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Operating Systems.

  • Working knowledge of Operating System deployment tools: Microsoft Remote Installation Services (RIS), File Replication Service (FRS),Virtualization Technologies (i.e. Citrix or VMWare), Windows Deployment Services (WDS), and Operating System Deployment technologies.

  • Proficient in writing scripts using VBScript or Powershell targeting Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, SCCM, WMI and Exchange.

  • Working knowledge of information security principals.

  • Exceptional computer software/hardware troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

_Position Duties (Essential Functions)_

Packaging and Deployment

  • Provides a managed software environment by creating standard packages for enterprise deployment using tools such as InstallShield AdminStudio, Orca or Symantec Wise Package Studio.

  • Leverages languages such as powershell, vbscript or other OS scripting technologies for packaging tasks.

  • Deploys standardized applications using technologies such as Group Policy, Microsoft SCCM 2007/2012, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop, VMWare View and ThinApp.

  • Ensures application compatibility with current and future managed environment, including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and other technologies.

  • Manages process of application packaging and corporate application delivery.

Enterprise Support

  • Manages all facets of enterprise workstation environment: software deployment, operating system troubleshooting, and maintenance.

  • Troubleshoots & resolves operating system, packaging, testing and deployment issues.

  • Manages core desktop infrastructure including group policy, WSUS and SCCM 2007/2012.

  • Manages desktop security infrastructure, including antivirus product suite, desktop encryption, host intrusion prevention, malware prevention and removal and workstation firewall rules.

  • Manages and deploys licensed applications.

  • Conducts problem management, diagnosis and root cause analysis.

  • Participates in complex systems improvement and optimization as well as with technical planning process.

  • Assists application analysts and applicable vendors in incident management.

  • Creates and maintains Active Directory user accounts, security groups, Microsoft Exchange email accounts, distribution lists and shared calendars.

  • Creates, administers and maintains Active Directory group policies, preferences and logon scripts.

  • Researches, analyzes, and reports on Windows OS and application compatibility.

  • Rotating daily on-call for escalation support from other enterprise IT Teams.

  • On-call after hours support on rotation.

Special Projects

  • Large scale systems and applications deployment.

  • Active directory and group policy auditing.

  • Documents and publishes technical processes, procedures, standards, testing & implementation plans.

  • Participates in technical and service evaluations for all new products and hardware.

  • Provides go-live support during major service line upgrades and initiatives.

  • Provides support during (whatever ITIL calls SWAT calls).

_Physical Requirements_

  • Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly.
