_Position Summary_

The Certified Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician is responsible and accountable for the decontamination, assembly, and processing of all surgical instruments, surgical trays, SPD stored surgical equipment and reusable instruments from other hospital departments / units. The Certified SPD Technician is responsible and accountable to assemble and issue case carts and issue disposable items necessary for surgical patient use. Must be able to access the ORSOS computer system and other computer software that supports the functioning of the OR and the tracking of all hospital owned, SPD processed instrument sets.

_Minimum Education Requirements_

  • High School Diploma or GED

_Minimum Experience Requirements_

  • Previous experience w/sterile processing activities of related fields preferred

_License/Certifications_

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Certified Surgical Technologist (CRCST required within 3 years of hire.

  • BLS (CPR) preferred
