This position is based at St. Mary Corwin in Pueblo but ultimately reports to leadership at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO.

_Schedule:_ FullTime; at least three 12-hour shifts per week; days to be determined.

_Shift:_ Variable; shift will begin between the hours of 11a and 1p and end 12 hours later. This position generally hires paying between $16.50 - $23.50/hr depending on experience and proficiency; in addition to this base rate, an evening shift differential of $2.75 is paid for hours worked between 3 - 11p; night shift diff of $5.75 is paid for hours worked between 11p - 7a.

*Job Summary*

As a member of the Transport Crew, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of ill and injured patients. Promotes safe and efficient operation of Flight For Life.

*Minimum Experience Requirements*

Three years of experience as a Paramedic provider in the pre-hospital area with a 911 response agency is REQUIRED

*Education Requirement*

High School Diploma or GED

*License/Certifications Requirement*

  • Current Colorado State Paramedic Certification and National Registry certification as a Paramedic. Must maintain currency in all certifications required by CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems)

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate) AND PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification) within 6 months of hire/transfer

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 12 months of hire/transfer

  • Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVOC or CVEO) within 6 months of hire/transfer. AND Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass the annual driving record review for safe vehicle operations

*Job Responsibilities (essential functions identified with a * )*

  • Assists in providing a safe environment essential to the health and well-being of all individuals in the medical transport environment, including universal precautions, and ambulance safety. *

  • Assists in performing a rapid survey of life threatening conditions as well as secondary physical assessment, including medical history, current medications, and allergies. *

  • Assists in prioritizing and planning appropriate transport care. *

  • Assists in implementing the plan of care and with on-going assessments. *

  • Provides reassurance and comfort to family members. Demonstrates compassion in interactions with families and patients.

  • Provides complete and accurate report at receiving facility. *

  • Documents patient care activities in a timely manner, maintaining confidentiality. *

  • Assists the EMT with education of user agencies and general public regarding Flight For Life/Medical Transport Safety. *

  • Assists in the ED with patient care within scope of practice and hospital guidelines, except in activities that would prevent an immediate response for a patient transport. *

  • Participates in decontamination of the vehicles and equipment. Helps keep ambulance equipment stocked. *

  • Performs the support duties necessary for the smooth operation of Flight For Life program, including cleaning of the vehicles,ordering and stocking of supplies, and clerical support tasks. *

  • Will be required to drive Flight For Life vehicles including ambulances and the Flight For Life Suburban, in support of our ground ambulance operations, relocating vehicles to cover for maintenance, and other program needs. *

  • Participates in marketing activities involving the ALS/BLS program. *

  • Continues own professional development, including education and membership in professional associations. *

  • Assists in training Paramedic, EMT, and other hospital personnel. *

  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives. *

  • Attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy. *

  • Adheres to all State/Federal regulatory standards and all accreditation requirements. *

  • Demonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements. *

  • Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibility. *
